By Mary Sayad
Beloved Friends,
It's not difficult to understand why this month is acknowledged as the Month of Mary. She was profoundly involved with each of the above celebrations and because she is the Mother of Jesus and to all of us, we honor her on Mother's Day as well as our earth mothers. Memorial Day brings another dimension into her life because of her concern and love for the souls of the faithfully departed.
In the above scripture, Our Lady stands on the moon. The moon always reflects the rays of the sun, but here the moon under her feet reflects the Divine Rays of her Son. She is a leader in spiritual warfare and is the exalted daughter of God. Honoring the Mother is honoring the Son, for Mary is the true embodiment of hope and refuge.
Most mothers love, nourish and protect their children. Committed Christian mothers guide their children and conscientiously labor to raise them with Christian values and principles, particularly in following God's Commandments. The Christian family that prays together is truly blessed!
Our Blessed Mother gently calls us to prayer, to the sacrifice of the Mass and to receiving the Sacraments of Penance and Holy Eucharist regularly. Her Sacred Heart resonates with love and longing for her children. The fruit of the fifth decade from the Glorious Mysteries (The Coronation) of the rosary tells us to trust in Mary's intercession.
Let us all heed her calling to prayer and be comforted by her mantle of unconditional love.
Your companion in prayer,
Mary
REMEMBER, O MOST GRACIOUS VIRGIN MARY,
NEVER WAS IT KNOWN
THAT ANYONE WHO FLED TO YOUR PROTECTION,
IMPLORED YOUR HELP OR SOUGHT YOUR INTERCESSION,
WAS LEFT UNAIDED.
INSPIRED WITH THIS CONFIDENCE
I FLY TO YOU, O VIRGIN OF VIRGINS, MY MOTHER;
TO YOU I COME
BEFORE YOU I STAND, SINFUL AND SORROWFUL.
O MOTHER OF THE WORD INCARNATE,
DESPISE NOT MY PETITIONS,
BUT IN YOUR MERCY HEAR AND ANSWER ME.
AMEN
